Poetry Excerpted from Voices

HEARTBEATS

It beats with rapid joy when she is near, but much louder when she's away.

When she no longer speaks my heart yet listens-when she is not seen but heard, again, in silence; Her voice illuminated by the shadow of romance.

And, when alone, an appreciation of her intentions...and a sudden surrender to her exploits-a longing.

Admiration for her made perfectly clear in her absence; Her presence magnifying the moment...like music.

And the only purpose is to love her more.
